On February 11, the Information Security Center of the Sejong Institute of Future Strategic Industries (SIBT), under the Sejong RISE Project Group at Korea University Sejong Campus, held the ‘SIBT Information Security Center R&D/R&BD Advisory Council Launch Ceremony’ at the Research and Business Cooperation Building.
The advisory council consists of 45 experts from community, industry, academia, research, and government in the field of information security, with 28 members attending the launch ceremony. During the event, advisory members discussed key agendas aimed at strengthening the self-sustaining capacity of the information security industry, including: △ setting short- and long-term research topics △ targeting strategies for successful market entry △ support measures for research and business technology transfer and commercialization △ workforce and funding support plans for companies receiving technology transfers.
The event also included an interim evaluation of first-year research project outcomes and an assessment of the commercialization potential of newly proposed second-year projects. In addition, participants further refined practical business model strategies, including plans to link outcomes to public sector procurement based on cooperation among community, industry, academia, research, and government.
Kim Heeseok, Director of the SIBT Information Security Center, stated, “This advisory council will serve as a key bridge for expanding the research outcomes of the RISE project into regional industries and the public sector. We will take the lead in advancing the practical commercialization of information security technologies and strengthening the regional innovation ecosystem.”
Relatedly, the SIBT Information Security Center has continuously promoted information security technology research linked to regional strategic industries through the RISE project. With the launch of this advisory council, the center plans to further strengthen an evidence-based cooperative system that connects not only research and development (R&D) but also research and business development (R&BD) toward commercialization.
